BCC High School Expansion Delay

BCC High SchoolPushing the B-CC addition back one year would mean that construction would commence in January 2017 with a planned building opening date in fall 2018 (fields would open not before spring 2019). It would also mean that the freshman class entering the new building would be the first class comprised of students from two middle schools (MS #2 and Westland).

STRUT YOUR MUTT DOG PARADE AND FESTIVAL

The 9th annual Strut Your Mutt Dog Parade and Festival will take place on
Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 10am to 3pm on Norfolk Ave. between Woodmont Ave. and Cordell Ave. in Bethesda, MD.

There will be the always-popular dog parade at 10:00am, as well as owner/dog
contests, along with over 30 dog-related exhibitors and a kiddie park
with moonbounces and games to keep the kids entertained. This year the Bethesda Chevy Chase Rotary Club is
partnering with DC Actors For Animals, and there will be performances in the afternoon and almost a dozen rescue groups will be present to offer education and information on training your dog and adopting rescue dogs.

The event, being put on by the Bethesda Chevy Chase Rotary Club, is a
fundraiser for its Foundation, which provides grants to service
organizations that provide assistance to improve literacy and health both locally and internationally. This year the Montgomery
County Humane Society is assisting the BCC Rotary Club and will receive a portion of the proceeds as well.

If you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse of my pup, Willie.

The Evers & Co. March 2014 Real Estate Report

cherry blossomsThe bad weather has taken a toll on the real estate market in the close-in Metro area, with March sales being a minus 8.8% from the previous March, the first time in well over a year that we’ve seen a reduction in sales volume from the same month the previous year. In addition, the average price showed less than 1% increase over March 2013. At the same time, almost half of the sales this month in all price ranges at our firm were competitive, so these numbers indicate strong purchase demand, but an unprecedented lack of product to sell the multitude of buyers.

Our advice to sellers is to make the move that they have been deferring, since prices are near what they were at the peak of the market in 2005. Buyers, Read the rest of this entry »
