Metro Rail
One of the best things about living in DC/MD is Metro Rail. Call me spoiled, but having an alternative to driving downtown is a wonderous thing. And now that Metro is better equiped to handle cell phone connections underground, what’s not to love?
If you’re not familiar with metro, check out this Metro Map. Most of the property I sell and buy for clients is located along the Red Line, though some of the downtown locations offer other options.
Some of my favorite things about metro:
- For the frequent traveler, rechargable SmarTrip Cards are the way to go.
- Get instant, on-line updates about train arrivals
- Did you know that fares are higher at rush hour? Fares run $1.75 – Read the rest of this entry »
DC Homebuyer Tax Credit- Alive and Kicking!
The Federal first-time homebuyer credit of $8,000 may be a thing of the past, but the $5,000 DC first-time Homebuyer Tax Credit is very much alive!
There are a few strings attached. Buyers must qualify to make a home purchase. The credit cannot be used toward a down payment. And the credit is used to reduce the buyer’s federal taxes.
The good news is that it’s available through the end of 2010.
The attached links will provide you with more information on the DC First-time Homebuyer Tax Credit program, along with other programs for DC residents.

2. DC Homebuyer Programs
