Metro Rail

said on June 4th, 2010 filed under: Bethesda, Chevy Chase, District of Columbia, Relocating to the DC area

Metro commutersOne of the best things about living in DC/MD is Metro Rail.  Call me spoiled, but having an alternative to driving downtown is a wonderous thing And now that Metro is better equiped to handle cell phone connections underground, what’s not to love?

If you’re not familiar with metro, check out this Metro Map.  Most of the property I sell and buy for clients is located along the Red Line, though some of the downtown locations offer other options.

Some of my favorite things about metro:

DC and the DMV

said on May 15th, 2010 filed under: District of Columbia

DC and the DMVMan, if there’s anything I hate more in life… it’s the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles).  Lousy pictures, long lines, having to admit your weight.  There oughta be a law.   Go to this god-forsaken website if you want/need any information on driving in the District.

DC Homebuyer Tax Credit- Alive and Kicking!

said on May 9th, 2010 filed under: District of Columbia, Information for Buyers, Relocating to the DC area

Found money! The Federal first-time homebuyer credit of $8,000 may be a thing of the past, but the $5,000 DC first-time Homebuyer Tax Credit is very much alive!

There are a few strings attached.  Buyers must qualify to make a home purchase.  The credit cannot be used toward a down payment. And the credit is used to reduce the buyer’s federal taxes.

The good news is that it’s available through the end of 2010.

The attached links will provide you with more information on the DC First-time Homebuyer Tax Credit program, along with other programs for DC residents.

1.  DC tax relief and tax credits
2.  DC Homebuyer Programs
3.  Home ownership and rental programs for DC residents

Let me know if I can help you find something in DC!
