East Bethesda MD 20814 Homes for Sale 10/14/11

Update for 10/14/2011… 1 new listing, 1 under contract, and 1 price reduction.
All the homes in this article are currently for sale within East Bethesda. The top of the list features the newest listings, while the bottom showcases those that have been on the market for quite some time. I’ll be updating this post every Friday, so be sure to check back to see what’s new, what’s gone, & what might be coming (and check out the date up top… if it’s not current, neither is this information!). I’ve lived in East Bethesda for over 16 years. I’ve sold real estate in East Bethesda for over 12 years. It’s a wonderful neighborhood within walking distance of two metro stops AND downtown Bethesda. While all of this information is available to you on the various search engines, I’ve taken the time to inject my opinion on the condition, pricing, and likelihood of each property selling… or not. I hope you’ll give me a call if you have any questions. I have loved living here over the years, and I want to share it with other enthusiastic people!

4613 West Virginia Avenue, $1,175,000
Totally renovated in 2005. This one was on the market for a short while @ December 2010. 5 BR/3.5BA. Large eat-in kitchen opening to family room with cathedral ceilings. New carpet. Quick walk to downtown Bethesda. Fenced yard. Finished, walk-out basement. Detached garage. Days on Market: 1
4624 Windsor Lane, $729,500
2 BR/2FB cape/bungalow. Walk to NIH metro. Built in 1938. Updated kitchen. The price is ambitious for only 2BR. Lot measures 6,371 s.f. 1-car garage. For sale by owner. Days on Market: 15
4618 Highland Avenue, $799,900
Pretty, old cape cod on a corner lot. Needs some updating & TLC. Wood floors, lots of nooks and crannies. Legal basement apartment rented to NIH employees for ages (must re-license). Close to Wisconsin corridor, shopping and parks. 4/5BR/2/3FB. Two (count ‘em) fireplaces. Off street parking. I’m thinking it’s a little pricey. Days on Market: 28
4514 Maple Avenue, $1,499,000
This one has been available since pre-construction… but now you can get in for a look! Great new space with very decent attention to detail. 6 bedrooms and 5.5 baths, sitting on a 6,000 s.f. lot. First floor has great flow with smaller LR/DR, large open family room/K, and a separate office. Big basement with 2BR and big rec room. I like the tile in the bathrooms. Nice block. Recent $26K price reduction. Days on Market: 29
4544 S. Chelsea Lane, $799,900This was on the market last Fall at a much higher price ($939K). When a house is overpriced, one tends to focus on all of the negative aspects of a house, and there are a few to be found here. At this price, however, it seems like a bargain (and I thought that when it was priced at $839K). 5BR/3FB. Some of the bedrooms are tiny, and the ratio of bedrooms to baths on the upper two levels is unfortunate. That said, the house appears to be in tip-top condition, offers up an abundance of nicely finished space, and the location can’t be beat. Days on Market: 36
4301 Rosedale Avenue, $1,795,000
New property to be built by Miller Development on a 10,605 s.f lot. Touts upscale finishes, designer kitchen, energy efficient systems, hand cut stonework, and wide plank floors. 5BR/4.5BA. Days on Market: 114
7917 Kentbury Drive, $998,000
4BR/4FB and a lap pool (aka endless pool). Chic, contemporary renovation with an open floor plan and an abundance of sunshine. Love the stair railings and the whimsical shelves dividing the LR/DR. This one sits on the Capital Crescent Trail… and while the jury is still out on the Purple Line, this one would tempt me to take that chance. Really lovely house. Days on Market: 219
8507 Halston Way, $960,000
This townhouse features 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths and 2 half baths. 4-levels of living, including a 2-car garage. Granite in the kitchen, and private deck with a fig tree! Days on Market: 267
4306 Chestnut Street, $1,695,000
This one will be ready in mid-October. 5BR/4.5FB. Built by Georgetown Development. Beautiful block. Shady, large trees. Fabulous location. Days on Market: 488
4608 W. Virginia Avenue, $939,000
This house is really different. It consists of a lovely bungalow, originally built in 1923, along with a sizable addition, which serves as a studio/office. The bungalow is inviting, though dated. The kitchen is older, but the house and garden ooze charm. The addition in the back, which is connected to the bungalow portion of the house by a corridor just off the kitchen, is large and cavernous, and also quite nice. It features a separate entrance off of the driveway, a full bath, a large studio, and a second floor office- quite large. It’s not obvious how to incorporate this space into the bungalow… they really do function as separate quarters. Perfect for someone in need of a home office. Very buyer specific. Days on Market: 514
4527 & 4508 Maple Avenue, $1,525,000
6 bedrooms/5.5 baths. 4 levels. Both in various phases of construction. Both built by Douglas Construction. They put out a good, solid house. Days on Market: unavailable
4319 Rosedale Avenue, $1,575,000
6 bedrooms/5.5 baths. 4 levels. Still time for customization Also by Douglas Construction. Sits on a larger lot… 9,000+ s.f. Days on Market: unavailable
