Bethesda eBay Consignment Shop
The other day I was desperate to ship off a birthday gift- and I popped into Drop & Ship (8020 Norfolk Avenue), where you can ship things via FedEx, DHL, etc. There were some pretty cool things in the shop and after a conversation with the President and owner, Davis Kiyonaga, I learned that it was also an eBay consignment and shipping center.
So, everyone has heard of eBay before. But not everyone is well versed in the ways of doing business on eBay. That’s where Drop & Ship comes in handy. For starters, they’ll help you sell anything valued at over $100 (that’s their minimum).
They will provide a free appraisal for any item as long as you can provide specifics and/or a picture. You pay no eBay or PayPal fees. They can arrange for item pick up (for a fee). And best of all, they arrange for and pay for shipping. They make their money by taking a fee for each sale ranging from 25-45% depending on the cost of the item. Consignment shops usually charge a 50% fee, so it’s a pretty good deal in comparison.
For more information give Davis Kiyonaga a call at 301/951-0771 or e-mail him at [email protected]
Now, go clean out that attic!
Big House/Long Commute?
Or, little house/short commute? In the DC market, the closer you live to town, the smaller the house (comparatively speaking). For the same amount of money, your Darnestown mansion is a modest 3-bedroom colonial in Chevy Chase, DC. And while the big house might be a big draw, the commute might kill ya, not to mention the commuting costs. It’s hard to know what’s best. Now there’s a cool new tool that helps you calculate your commuting costs based on the year, make & model of your car and the start and stop location. Check out www.CostToDrive.com
As a real estate agent, I’m driving all over the place. Figuring out my commuting costs is a bit nutty. But my husband has a very regular commute. He drives a hybrid car- so I plugged in all the particulars and it turns out he pays approximately $0.86 for the privilege of driving into work every day. If he were to use my clunker of a minivan, the cost would rise to $1.42 per one-way trip. Big difference.
As a buyer, if you’re weighing the pros and cons of a long vs. short commute, this gadget will help you identify the monetary costs of your potential commute. Can’t measure the time, though. That stuff is golden.
East Bethesda MD 20814 Homes for Sale 5/27/11
Update for 5/27/2011: This week there is not a single new listing. We have 2 under contract and 3 townhouses have had price reductions.
All the homes in this article are currently for sale within East Bethesda. The top of the list features the newest listings, while the bottom showcases those that have been on the market for quite some time. I’ll be updating this post every Friday, so be sure to check back to see what’s new, what’s gone, & what might be coming (and check out the date up top… if it’s not current, neither is this information!). I’ve lived in East Bethesda for over 15 years. I’ve sold real estate in East Bethesda for over 11 years. It’s a wonderful neighborhood within walking distance of two metro stops AND downtown Bethesda. While all of this information is available to you on the various search engines, I’ve taken the time to inject my opinion on the condition, pricing, and likelihood of each property selling… or not. I hope you’ll give me a call if you have any questions. I have loved living here over the years, and I want to share it with other enthusiastic people!

Downtown Bethesda in the Early Evening
Work has been a little nuts lately. In a good way. I’m not complaining. But it hasn’t left much time for adding new articles to my blog. So, on this misty Tuesday, I’ll share a picture of a downtown office building at dusk. It sits on Del Ray. I took this while facing Tia Queta and looking a little to the right. Last Saturday night, after another great meal at Guardados (a favorite!), we walked out of the restaurant and… voila:

Bethesda MD 20817 Market Analysis/1Q 2011
Back in 2010 I was the habit of posting Bethesda 20817 real estate market analysis on a monthly basis …but I found it wasn’t necessarily indicative of the market we were experiencing at the time. One large house could really skew the numbers (and often did), as could a flurry of snow flakes. So, I decided to take it back a notch and post these findings on a quarterly basis. I think you’ll find that it represents area market trends more accurately.
So, what can we glean from these Bethesda 20817 numbers?
- For starters, about 25% more homes sold in the last quarter of 2010 compared to the 1st quarter of 2011. I blame this on the slow Spring start off.
- The average sales price for the first quarter this year Read the rest of this entry »

Evers & Co. Real Estate Report- April 2011

Bill & George... National Portrait Museum, DC
The biggest surprise in the April numbers was that the dollar volume of sales was higher than April 2010. This was not expected, because the First Time Homebuyers Tax Credit deadline of April 30, 2010, created a huge bonanza of sales all across the country, including in our own Metro area. In addition, April was the 13th consecutive month showing an increase in the average price over the same months of the previous year.
All of this enforces what we have been reading in the newspapers, that the Washington Metro area is the strongest real estate market in the country. With the relatively weak dollar, we should expect foreign buyers to come shopping in our marketplace, not only for commercial properties, but also for good values in our Blue Chip real estate market.
* Statistics are taken from the Metropolitan Regional Information System for three areas: Washington, D.C.; Montgomery Country, Maryland’ ad Fairfax County, Arlington, Alexandria and Falls Church in Northern Virginia.
