4308 Sleaford Road BETHESDA MD 20814
UNDER CONTRACT AS OF 4/19/2011
Offered at $739,000
The first time I met with the sellers of 4308 Sleaford Road to discuss the sale of their home, it was about 95° outside and it felt like a swamp. My eyebrow went up a notch as they invited me out to the covered patio to sit down and discuss business. Turns out I had nothing to fear. With the fan turning slowly overhead, it was absolutely lovely and surprisingly comfortable, regardless of the temperature. The setting is idyllic. Surrounded by several stone retaining walls, the garden is a work of art (and so clearly beyond my personal capabilities), which is why it’s such a pleasure to observe. And the fishpond (once featured in a Lilypons catalog) is to die for. Can you tell that I like the place?
The sellers (who have lived in the house for over 35 years) have done an amazing job of renovating the interior and preparing it for market. The floors have been sanded, stained and refinished, and the walls and ceilings have all been repainted. Over the years they have expanded and renovated the kitchen, added an attached garage (and the patio), and even put in a hot tub. The house has 3 bedrooms and 1 full bath on the 2nd level. The main level features a sun room/family room, a living room with a wood-burning fireplace, dining room, expanded kitchen and a powder room. Both the kitchen and the sun room open up to the covered patio and yard. The basement has wood paneling and tile flooring, along with a full bath… and awaits your finishing touches. The terraced yard offers the garden and fish pond on the first level, a magnificent magnolia tree and a hot tub on the second level, and the third level would be perfect for a game of croquet or possibly a vegetable garden? It’s one of the larger lots in East Bethesda, and it feels private and secluded.
Walking times vary, but it’s approximately a 10-12 minute walk to Bethesda Metro. The house is one short block away from Lynbrook Park, and 2 blocks away from the Capital Crescent Trail, which can run you into Georgetown with just one traffic light. East Bethesda is one of the most convenient neighborhoods just north of DC. It’s hard to beat this fantastic location with access to over 100 restaurants, BCC High School, the Capital Crescent Trail, the Red Line, and downtown Bethesda.
