East Bethesda- Homes for Sale 3/25/2011
Update for 3/25/2011: During the past week we’ve had 1 new listing, 1 older listing return to the market, and 1 house go under contract. There are only 2 listings available for under $1,000,000.
All the homes in this article are currently for sale within East Bethesda. The top of the list features the newest listings, while the bottom showcases those that have been on the market for quite some time. I’ll be updating this post every Friday, so be sure to check back to see what’s new, what’s gone, & what might be coming (and check out the date up top… if it’s not current, neither is this information!). I’ve lived in East Bethesda for over 15 years. I’ve sold real estate in East Bethesda for over 11 years. It’s a wonderful neighborhood within walking distance of two metro stops AND downtown Bethesda. While all of this information is available to you on the various search engines, I’ve taken the time to inject my opinion on the condition, pricing, and likelihood of each property selling… or not. I hope you’ll give me a call if you have any questions. I have loved living here over the years, and I want to share it with other enthusiastic people!

7915 Kentbury Drive, $899,900
Back on the market. This one took a breather for 4 months. 6BR/4FB. 1-car attached garage. Pretty granite in the kitchen. Pretty tile in the bathrooms. Shows nicely. A lot of smaller rooms, combined to make a large house. Backs to the proposed Purple Line, which is hard for resale purposes. Days on Market: 0
4614 Highland Avenue, $1,199,000
5BR/3.5BA (with 4BR/2FB on the second floor). Nicely expanded/renovated home with raised front porch. Large, eat-in kitchen which opens to a family room. 1-car garage plus a driveway with space for 2 cars. Fenced yard. Hardwood floors and skylights. Great “walk-to everything” location. Days on Market: 4
4504 West Virginia Avenue, $1,525,000
Though you may have read about this property before on my blog, it has now officially hit the market. This arts & crafts colonial by Douglas Construction features 6 bedrooms and 5.5 baths, a 6,000 square foot lot, and a 2-car garage. Days on Market: 8
7917 Kentbury Drive, $1,100,000
4BR/4FB and a lap pool (aka endless pool). Chic, contemporary renovation with an open floor plan and an abundance of sunshine. Love the stair railings and the whimsical shelves dividing the LR/DR. This one sits on the Capital Crescent Trail… and while the jury is still out on the Purple Line, this one would tempt me to take that chance. Really lovely house. Days on Market: 17
8507 Halston Way, $1,099,000
This townhouse features 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths and 2 half baths. 4-levels of living, including a 2-car garage. Granite in the kitchen, and private deck with a fig tree! Healthy price reduction of $71,000. Days on Market: 64
4620 S. Chelsea, $749,750
This cute Cape was on the market back in 2005. Boy, what a difference. The house has been cleaned up and given a bit of a face lift, and it’s looking pretty good. The kitchen, while dated, opens up to a good sized, sun-drenched family room which opens to a deck. While it’s advertised as a 5BR house, two of ‘em are a bit funky (one “L” shaped, the other with two entries). Still, it’s clean, inviting, and will appeal to those who want a close-in home with a lot of rooms. A second bath on the upper level would help, and there seems to be room for it. Great space for the money. Days on Market: 77
4400 Chestnut Street, $1,600,000
Lovely house with lots of Texas charm. Pretty front porch, perched up high so you can sit back and watch the world go by. Corner lot. 6 bedrooms and 5.5 baths. 2-car garage. Fenced yard. Radiant heated floors in master bath. Recent $40,000 price drop (originally priced at $1,795,000). Days on Market: 168
4717 N. Chelsea Lane, $1,689,000
Still under construction, but eventually this will be the first PASSIVE house in the metro area. A passive house is so energy efficient that it saves an average 90% of HVAC energy of a standard home. Cool. 5 bedrooms, 4 full baths & 1 half bath. Days on Market: 122/Temporarily off the Market (but it’s coming back).
4306 Chestnut Street, $1,749,000
This one hasn’t been built yet. There are additional home designs available that can work the price down to $1,600,000. Built by Georgetown Development. Beautiful block. Shady, large trees. Fabulous location. No photo available. Days on Market: 294
4608 W. Virginia Avenue, $1,000,000
This house is really different. It consists of a lovely bungalow, originally built in 1923, along with a sizable addition, which serves as a studio/office. The bungalow is inviting, though dated. The kitchen is older, but the house and garden ooze charm. The addition in the back, which is connected to the bungalow portion of the house by a corridor just off the kitchen, is large and cavernous, and also quite nice. It features a separate entrance off of the driveway, a full bath, a large studio, and a second floor office- quite large. It’s not obvious how to incorporate this space into the bungalow… they really do function as separate quarters. Perfect for someone in need of a home office. Very buyer specific. Days on Market: 318
4514 Maple Avenue, @ $1,550,000
This is a property not yet available on the MLS, and in the beginning stages of building. Delivery is expected in Spring 2011. It will have 6 bedrooms and 5.5 baths, and sits on a lot that measures 6,000 square feet. For more information and floor plans, give me a call. Days on Market: unavailable
8105 Kentbury Drive, $649,000 & $649,000
Two adjacent lots are for sale on the parcel of land currently known as 8105 Kentbury. Both lots are priced at $649K. Lot # 1 measures 7,232 s.f. and lot #2 measures 6,807 s.f. Both lots are close to, but not backing to the Capital Crescent trail. Perfect for those interested in living in East Bethesda & in need of a new construction home that doesn’t fit the recent very large mold. Please call me for the plat and other information. Days on Market: 49
4705 W. Virginia Avenue, $875,000
This lot sits a few doors in from Wisconsin Avenue. It measures 8,550 s.f. Per the description, “it is zoned R-60 but can be rezoned to CT.” Also, 4707 W. Virginia is available and zoned CBD-1. It’s available for $1,400,000. Days on Market: 35
